Are Victorian Workers Returning Home Safely Every Day?.jpeg
The WorkSafe Victoria theme of “Victorian workers returning home safe every day” will be an unattainable goal if there is:

  • A lack of executive commitment
  • A number of disparate Excel spreadsheets used to manage data throughout the company
  • Non-standard information collected by different departments and;
  • Employees ignorant of risks due to lack of specific and awareness training

To work towards this goal companies must embrace a safety culture where all employees understand and believe that safety if about THEM and how an accident would impact on their and their family’s life and future. Such a safety culture must encourage the reporting of “near misses” and all incidents, injuries and illnesses without the fear of automatic recriminations from supervisors and management.

Such a safety culture must be supported by a”best of breed” company-wide risk management system which provides the “one source of truth” timely and accurate information and instantaneous charts and dashboards which are regularly communicated to all employees though Tool Box, department and management meetings, and to all stakeholders in general.
