Building on Aviation Safety for HeliOtago

With 20 years experience in the Aviation industry, HeliOtago are the largest fleet of helicopters in southern New Zealand.  They provide aviation for commercial enterprise, agriculture, pest eradication, training and ambulance services.  They also own and operate the Otago Regional Rescue Helicopter which undertakes more than 600 rescue missions per year.  Health and Safety is a major priority for HeliOtago, which is why, when they outgrew the software built by the aviation industry, they turned to Vault.

Ros Gale, Health, Safety and Quality Assurance Officer for HeliOtago found that the standard aviation industry software for health and safety was only covering their basic needs.  They were fast outgrowing this software and needed something they could build on that would cover all their compliance, governance and risk management needs whilst protecting their people and assets.

By implementing Vault, they now have a reliable system that not only covers their fleet and equipment (both medical and commercial), but also the health, safety and compliance needs of their pilots, crew and paramedics. They can now easily keep track of qualifications, training and inductions, whilst maintaining detailed records of events or incidents.

"We could no longer run the organisation without [Vault]" said Ros Gale.  "Vault for us is a one-stop-shop that contains everything we require to keep us legal. It's definitely made HeliOtago safer."
